An easy and fairly flat route, starting on some quiet roads through Crowthorne, then the majority of the ride is on traffic-free cycleways through Bracknell. Although I plan to start from Wellington Sports Club, we will be cycling over to Buckler's Park, so there is also the option to meet at the Buckler's Forest car park (at Woodcote Green) if you wanted an even shorter ride of only 11 miles. This ride is suitable for beginners or ladies returning to cycling after some time, or anyone who just fancies a short sociable ride.
From Buckler's Park, we'll head out on Bracknell cycleways to Wooden Hill, through Mill Park, loop around Bracknell Sports Centre and head to South Hill Park where we will stop for a coffee break (after 8 miles of cycling.) We'll come back on cycleways through Jennetts Park (maybe have a look at the new cafe there?) then return along South Road and the Nine Mile Ride cycleway to Crowthorne.
The ride will be on paved cycleways and tarmac roads, so any type of bike should be suitable. Please check your bike before coming out - especially tyres inflated correctly, both brakes working and oil on the chain. You should also carry a spare inner tube suitable for your wheel size. Cycle helmets are compulsory and please dress appropriately for the cooler weather (including layers, warm socks and gloves.) Please bring cash or card for payment at the cafe, a bottle of water and a bike lock if you have one.
