This is a sightseeing route round East London with a stop at the Stairway to Heaven Memorial in Bethnal Green, which our regular rider Lynda helped to establish. It commemorates the worst civilian disaster of WWII when 173 people were killed by a crush in the Underground station. https://stairwaytoheavenmemorial.org We'll explore old and new areas and enjoy some of the parks and green spaces, including East London's green lung, Victoria Park. It isn't a beginner ride as there are moments in traffic, but if you have been on a group ride before you should be fine.

The ride begins at Kings Cross station and finishes at Aldgate Station. You can take the Met Line with your bike on a Sunday. There are lifts at KX; at Aldgate you will need to carry your bike down the stairs, but others will help if necessary.

About a quarter is traffic-free and most of the rest is quiet roads

We'll stop for a coffee en route and at the Stairway to Heaven Memorial

Bring water, a good strong bike lock and card for the cafe. Helmets are a matter of personal choice.
