Starting point

Gloucestershire
GL11 5DW

Part of our Friday Fizzicals series of more challenging rides for intermediate riders looking to improve their pace, climbing or descending, this is a lumpy route heading South to Oldbury on the Severn plain. Half the route is quite flat, on the river floodplain, allowing us to up the pace, but the other half, slightly inland, rolls over some of the lower Gloucestershire hills, giving us some inviting climbs and descents to enjoy.

Helmets are recommended. In line with current Covid-19 advice, please do not attend if you or anyone in your household has experienced any symptoms within the last 14 days.

A loop out on quiet country lanes to Oldbury for coffee and cake.

We’ll mostly be riding on quiet lanes but there are some busier sections. There are also some climbs and descents, and though none are excessively long or steep, you should be confident using your full range of gears and handling your bike on descents. This ride best suits confident road cyclists looking to build on their current skills.

We'll be stopping at the halfway point to refuel.

Please bring a spare inner tube suitable for your bike or a puncture repair kit, and tools. You'll also need money for refreshments and a mask. You may consider bringing your own hand sanitiser.
