About the route
Head through Sunderland to catch NCN 1 at Ryhope. Leave route 1 at Murton to join NCN 72 heading through Hetton le Hole, Pittington into Durham City. Leave Durham via Franklin Lane to join cycle path on A167 at Pity Me. Carry on to Birtley where we turn east on NCN 7 returning to Sunderland
