Starting point

LU6 1SL

Pedal Works Bike Shop, West Street, Dunstable, Bedfordshire

This is a fun and friendly ride for women who haven't been on a bike for years and want to get started again, or who are just building up some confidence. It's all traffic free so there's no need to worry about the roads. We start from Pedalworks Bike Shop and pick up the National Cycle Network route 6 that takes us along pretty paths towards Houghton Regis and steadily on to Sundon Park. From here we continue for a short time along the river and more landscaped paths before we reach Wardown Park Museum where we will stop for tea in their tea-room. After refreshments we will return to Dunstable or, if you choose, you can leave us there and continue for a short hop into Luton town centre to do your shopping! This is a 14 mile ride and is a nice one for beginners and newcomers are always welcome. We always ride at the pace of the slowest rider so no one is left behind. The route is all tarmac paths and suitable for all types of bicycles. It's a good idea to bring some water and you may also want to bring a snack. Dress appropriately for the weather and please bring a puncture repair kit. Wearing a helmet is advisable; if you don't have one please do not to worry you can still take part. If you enjoy the bike ride and would like to come again perhaps you could look to buy one then.
