A child friendly bike ride utilizing cycle paths and roads. About 3 miles each way. With a police escort this is going to be a great bike ride for the less experienced family cyclists. The ride sets of from the John Muir Statue on Dunbar High St, which is a couple of minutes from Dunbar train station. Edinburgh to Dunbar by train only takes just over 20 mins! The beautiful White Sands beach to Barness light house has a geological walk full of fossils, a coal seam and a fault line! There are fossilized brachiopods, crinoids and corals. At low tide a matrix of 1 metre wide pools, created from fossilized plant roots or trees, can be seen. Perhaps the pools are like the ones in Narnia and once led to other worlds. This area of the coastline is also a wildlife hot spot, so bring your binoculars if you are a bit of a twitcher. There will be a ranger, wildlife officer and a story teller to keep all informed and entertained.
