Driffield Leisure Centre

This ride starts nice and flat from Driffield to Hutton via Skerne and then meanders through the back lanes to Bainton, touching on the main road briefly to North Dalton before we start a steady climb up to Huggate where we turn left down a lovely sweeping descent into Warter. From here we take the lesser of two evils as we climb up the hill that runs adjacent to Numburnholme - we'll save that treat for another day - and then over the tops and down to Barmby. The next bit is flat as we head into Pocklington for a lovely and well deserved coffee stop. Heading back we take the well established route of the Way of the Roses - just one small climb out of Millington followed by that lovely long freewheel down from Huggate to Kirkburn then back along the main road into Driffield. The first half of the ride is definitely the harder of the two so you will enjoy your cake knowing that you have worked hard for it and can look forward to an easy ride home. Please wear a bright jacket/high vis if you have one and bring lights if you have them just in case. A helmet is advisable and a water bottle is always a good idea, plus any snacks to keep your energy levels up when tackling those hills. Also, please ensure that you carry at least one spare inner tube and a puncture repair kit if possible. We will always go at the pace of the slowest rider, but please be aware that this is a challenging ride with 2454 feet of climbing so please take that into account when deciding to come. As always, if the weather doesn't look good, I will contact everyone signed up and still turn up at the Leisure Centre in case anyone hasn't received a message. Look forward to seeing you.
