Come and join us to ride along the new tram bridge over the river Ribble in Preston. It is a historic bridge and was first built over the Ribble in 1802 to carry packhorse trams between the Leeds/Liverpool canal at Walton Summit and the Lancaster canal in Preston. Since then, the bridge has been rebuilt several times with the latest one opening last week on 22nd May.
Much of the route is traffic free as we ride through Cuerden Valley Park, along the old tram road, through Avenham park and others park areas in Penwortham. Our return route does take us on a few short sections of busier roads and junctions.
Our cafe stop will be Hurst Grange Coach House cafe about half way round.
Please wear a helmet, have puncture repair items, a plan to get home in case of mechanical breakdown, bring a drink and payment method for the cafe.
First-timers welcome!
