Starting point

Tyne and Wear
NE3 1RG

From Gosforth down to the river and across the Millennium Bridge. West along the south bank of the Tyne to the River Derwent where we turn south onto the Derwent Walk. We’ll follow the Walk past Winlaton, Whickham and Rowlands Gill to Blackhall Mill where we’ll stop at the Riverside Bakery for refreshments. We’ll return using the same route in reverse to the bridge, and head back to Gosforth via the Byker Link, Heaton Park and Coxlodge Waggonway.

You can join the ride at Baltic Square (the south side of the Millennium Bridge) at 10:00 if you prefer, but let me know in advance.

IF THE RIDE IS FULL, please message me and MAKE YOUR OWN WAY to the Baltic. I’m only taking a group of at most 8 from Asda.

We can cut the route short in many different ways if weather isn't too good.

Although most of the ride is on wagonways and cycle/shared paths, there will be some stretches of road. Remember that it's winter/spring/summer/autumn and there will be rain and snow and hail and mud and dust and sand and ice and sunshine! And gales! Please dress appropriately.

Please be prepared to fix any mechanical issues you may have, and especially punctures (a spare inner tube is *much* better than a repair kit). That said, there will be plenty of help if you do have issues, but don't assume anyone has the knowledge/ability/tools to fix an ebike.
