Marl Pits Leisure Centre, Newchurch Road, Rawtenstall. I wait by the main entrance. The parking is free.

Moderate road rides around Rossendale, 13-17 miles, with 1100 feet+ of climbing. Come and have a go in a supportive atmosphere! All rides leave Marl Pits Leisure Centre, Rawtenstall, BB4 7SN, at 10am on Sunday throughout November. Please text ride leader if you are running late. These rides are HILLY and for BEGINNERS. We will strictly go at the pace of the slowest rider and we will always wait at the top of hills. If you are likely to feel frustrated at the slower pace, do consider the local road clubs who also run Sunday rides. Please do bring a spare inner tube that fits your bike, drink and food. Check the weather forecast as the roads are remote. When we return to Rawtenstall we can visit a café together (if one is open - probably The Whitaker) so bring a bike lock and money if you'd like to join us. Please book on as numbers are limited. 16th November: Deerplay Clockwise Leaving Rawtenstall by Newchurch Road, we head out via Bridleway up Burnley Road East, through Lumb and Water, and turn right onto the road over Deerplay Moor. THIS MIGHT BE CHILLY! Then we drop down into Weir, and through Bacup. We cannot avoid some traffic on this short section. As soon as we can, we turn off the main road onto Booth Road and follow this to Newchurch Road and back to Marl Pits. If we want to go to a cafe, we will have to descend into Rawtenstall.
