Jolly Olly's Coffee Shop 32 Oakley Lane Oakley, Basingstoke

This is Day 128 of the Tribute to Billie Fleming Tribute ride 2015. In 1938, by cycling an average of 80 miles a day, Billie completed 29,604 miles setting a world record which still stands. For more on Billie see Facebook 'Billie Fleming Tribute Ride 2015' or www.tributetobillie.co.uk. This ride links with the Billie tribute ride from Andover to Oakley (Basingstoke). We will be riding with lady members of Oakley Pedalers Cycling Club. Starting from Jolly Olly’s coffee shop in Oakley, we will go on roads to Henley-on- Thames; which is one of the places Billie visited on this day in 1938. This is a ride for women who are confident on their bikes and riding in traffic, (as parts of the route will be on unavoidable busy roads). A reasonable level of fitness will be required to maintain a steady pace ; there will be some hills on this ride but we will wait at the top for the last rider. The ride will end in Henley at a coffee shop near Henley railway station, so people will have to make there own way back to Oakley (Basingstoke). Wear clothing suitable for the weather conditions: bring water/drink: money: at least 2 spare inner tubes and tyre levers: wearing a helmet is recommended.
