Extending training rides from Waltham Forest Town Hall towards Southend-on-Sea and back - initially around 50 miles on 31st January 2016 increasing by around five miles per ride to the 80 mile return trip to Southend-on-Sea and back.
This Sunday we are aiming for around 55 to 60 miles in total which will comfortably take us to Basildon and back. You must be fit to complete this ride and it includes a challenging hill.
We need to average not less than 10mph
It's a long way! so ensure that your bike is properly prepared; that you have at least one spare tube, puncture repair kit, pump, fluids, food, waterproof top (it might rain) and a well of self belief based on dedicated training.
Whilst group cyclists will assist in the event of an unforeseen setback (e.g. puncture) it is the rider's responsibility to maintain and repair his/her cycle and to be prepared for such eventualities.
