Starting point

Oxfordshire
SN6 8AN

Our ride takes us out via Stanton Fitzwarren, Blunsden and Tadpole Village and then to visit two sites at RAF Blakehill Farm. We will follow this with a coffee stop in Cricklade and then onto to RAF Down Ampney where we will visit the St Andrews Church, one of the memorials. Our return trip to Shrivenham gives a chance to stand on an actual runway which is still in place. (the concrete at Blakehill farm is now under the M4!!!)

Join the celebrations for the 80th Anniversary of D-Day by joining us on this ride to two airfields that were very much part of the D-Day story. We will be visiting RAF Blakehill Farm and at RAF Down Ampney you get to stand on what's left of the runaway used by dakotas 80 years ago.

We will be on country roads the whole time

We will take refreshments in Cricklade

Don’t forget a full water bottle with your favourite thirst quencher. For all our rides you should bring at least a spare inner tube and a pump. If your wheels are bolted-on then a spanner that fits the wheel nuts is also essential. Helmets are not compulsory but most definitely recommended. You should dress appropriately for the weather, (GLOVES) and consider bringing your mobile phone along with cash or debit card for the refreshment stop. Some place’s only take card payments.

We welcome first timers on our guided rides. However this ride is for experienced cyclists who can ride at an average 11-12mph and keep riding for three hours. If this isn't you why not look up our other less challenging rides
