This ride to Broadwater and Shephall is the third in a special day of rides using parts of the Stevenage cycleway network that were once the lanes linking villages long before the Stevenage New Town was built.

On today's rides, we particularly welcome riders who are taking part in the Helping Herts 12 for 12 charity challenge raising money their 12 partnered children's charities. https://www.helpingherts.com/the-great-12-challenge/

Children are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult - they should be booked on as an additional rider.

If you do not have a bike of your own, you can still take part in a ride by taking advantage of the special free bike hire for ABC rides from the Stevenage Cycling Hub. It is essential that you book this in advance by emailing [email protected] by the day before the ride.

We organise free rides for Cycling UK members. If you are not a Cycling UK member you are welcome to join us for up to 3 rides. After 3 rides you will need to join Cycling UK if you would like to continue to join our led rides, more details about membership at www.cyclinguk.org/join-today

More about the Old Lanes routes can be found at: https://www.cyclinguk.org/sites/default/files/document/groups/stevenage_old_lanes_-_routes_from_cycling_uk_stevenage.pdf

As well as our abc rides, Cycling UK Stevenage run longer rides throughout the year - more information and a full rides listing can be found at: https://www.cyclinguk.org/local-groups/stevenage

We will ride a loop from the Stevenage Cycling Hub in Fairlands Valley Park.

The road will use cycle paths and some quiet lanes near Aston

There is no planned stop but we do not rush. Costello's cafe at Fairlands park is open before and after the ride for hot drinks and food.

Bring a drink and snack if you wish and an extra layer or waterproof according to the forecast.

New and returning riders are very welcome. These rides are a great way to get out and about discovering the cycleway network across Stevenage.
