The Central London Outdoor Group (CLOG) (founded 1937)
https://www.clog.org.uk has an easy cycle rides in the countryside nearly every week between March and October ranging from 20 to 35 miles. These are easily accessible by public transport from London and are on quiet roads or cycle paths.
By bike we explore rivers, canals, forts, castles, coast, marshes, gardens, woods, ruins, churches, mansions, cycle-ferries, churchyards, villages, lost railways....

Cycle ride: Two gardenn cities - Letchworth to Welwyn

Starting from Letchworth Garden City station at 10.14 (catch 9.35 from Kings Cross, 9.41 Finsbury Park), cycle 9 miles to Ardeley village for morning break/breakfast at the Church Farm Cafe. Cycle 10 miles south to Ware (potential coffee stop), then 3 miles along canal path to Hertford for lunch (Bebo cafe). A final leg of 8 miles takes us to Welwyn Garden City and trains back to London.
There is an option to leave car at Letchworth and return on train to collect.
Drop out points en route (Watton-At-Stone, Ware, Hertford - trains back to Moorgate, Kings Cross).
Buy return train ticket to Letchworth (£13.20)
