Starting point

WN7 3JD

Pennington Hall car park, Pennington Lane, Leigh

This ride to Glazebury follows a quiet route through parkland and along the towpath, cycle path and some quiet local roads. We’ll meet at the car park in Pennington for a warm up and a quick bike check. Then we’ll head out to Lowton passing the Leeds to Liverpool Canal along the way and then head back down the cycle path to Glazebury. We’ll take a break at The Victorian Tea Rooms, where you can sample the old fashioned style of days gone by.  You may also spot some sweets you haven't seen since childhood !  We'll then return to our starting point via cycle path and off road trail taking us back into Pennington Flash.
This is a gentle ride on a mostly flat, well-surfaced route. The total length of the ride is around 12 miles. It’s perfect for anyone who’s not been on a bike for a while. We really welcome newcomers to our rides.
It’s a good idea to bring some water and you may also want to bring a snack if you think your energy levels may need topping up along the way. Wearing a helmet is advisable, though not essential. Please bring some money if you want to buy refreshments.
