About the route
We'll be taking the coastal path to Souter Lighthouse, heading south from Cullercoats, via the Shields Ferry. The ride is about 9 miles each way, there is a tea shop at the lighthouse and ample bike parking so we'll have a rest stop there before the return journey. You'll need about £2.50 for your return ferry ticket. There is a max of 16 bikes permitted on the ferry so we have capped the ride numbers for that reason.
