This is a hilly route and there are some steep sections. A few hilly country lanes between Pontprennau and Newport ; some urban roads too.
Heading up Rhyd-Y-Penau Rd into Pontprennau and then up Ty-Draw Road then down through the new housing estate to the country lanes, through druidstone. We're heading up the steep Pen-y-lan hill for our toughest test of the ride, and some great views at the top. A nice descent down into Bassaleg before heading back via an undulating section to pass the Cefn Mably Arms. Then we head back to the start.

Pot holes, some busy roads, some low grip surfaces.
