Croydon loop - Oaks Park, trails to Nonsuch Park, Hogsmill Trail, Horton Country Park, Epsom Common, Carshalton

Sunday September 6th. One of the best routes for off road woodland and parkland and riverside I have discovered in London. First time for the cycling group. It starts in Queens Gardens. First we go to Oaks Park then by a delightful series of treelined and woodland trails and fields right onto Nonsuch Park’s best trail among the trees. Then after a short ride to Ewell we are on the Hogsmill Trail, cycling beside the River Hogsmill. Leaving that we have a short side street connection to Horton Country Park where we will lunch alfresco or inside of the public golf centre’s cafe. After lunch we ride through the big country park to cycle a rideable section of Epsom Common and back to the Hogsmill Trail. We’ll ride again through Nonsuch Park, on a different path, and have a coffee stop in Cheam. Afterwards we will carry on back to Croydon on the back streets.

Length is 28 miles. There’s gravel and bumpy earth track so I recommend 32mm tyres or wider.

Start from Queens Gardens CR0 1GY at 10am. Back around 4pm.
Bring your water bottle and a spare inner tube.
