Join us, for one of our chilled Saturday rides, designed to be taken at a leisurely pace to maximize our appreciation of nature and the countryside. Our journey starts at Cromford Wharf Shed, following the towpath of the picturesque Cromford Canal for several miles, offering tranquil waterside ambience.

From Ambergate, we head towards Belper Lane End, taking a delightful detour through the Nature Reserve along Wyver Lane, where we can soak in the serene beauty of the area. We soon arrive at the charming Belper River Gardens, another perfect spot to enjoy the peaceful surroundings and the River Derwent.

Departing Belper, we soon reach the pretty hamlet of Farnah Green, where we follow the wonderful Midshires Way down into Milford. A few minutes later, we arrive in Makeney, where we’ll pause for a relaxing lunch at the renowned Holly Bush Inn. Here, you can savour an array of sandwiches, famous pork pies, and other wholesome snacks, along with a wide range of traditional ales, many from local breweries - all while enjoying the pub's cozy ambiance.

After our break, we continue down to the desirable village of Duffield, then out onto country lanes to Hazelwood, eventually arriving at Blackbrook. We then enjoy a steady climb to Belper Lane End, later passing Bear Lake, before descending through Alderwasley, eventually rejoining Cromford Canal, which we follow back to our starting point.

This ride offers a perfect blend of serene canal paths, a nature reserve, historic towns and buildings, and a fantastic pub stop, making for an ideal leisurely day out on two wheels. It's a wonderful opportunity to unwind, enjoy the scenery, and appreciate the natural beauty of the Derbyshire countryside.
