These plans have been formulated after discussion with Cristy's family.
Yesterday we learnt the very sad news that one of Milton Keynes Breeze's regular riders, Cristy Craven passed away on 29th February. Jane, Clare and I are deeply saddened and shocked by this tragic news. Cristy was such a lovely, gentle lady who loved cycling. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family.
This is for Breeze riders who ether knew Cristy and/or would like to pay their respects.
We want to pay tribute to Cristy on the day of a funeral. We will meet and then ride together to arrive at the Crownhill crematorium no later than 3:15.
The family have said, as Cristy so loved cycling, they would like to her cycling friends, to cycle behind the hearse after it arrives at the gates of the crematorium the short distance to the crematorium. They feel this will be a fitting tribute to her that recognised the role cycling played in her life.
For those of us who would like to stay on to attend a funeral, we will do so and then ride back together. Anyone else who would prefer not to stay on for the funeral you can leave the ride at this point.
The family have said any of Cristy's cycling friends are very welcome to join the funeral.
I am also in discussions with U3A cycling with whom Cristy also cycled, to see if they would like to join up.
Cristy's family have asked people to wear a touch of purple, please.
The family have set up a donation page to Willen Hospice to remember Cristy and have asked for donations to this, rather than flowers.
