CRAGG VALE ASCENT

Starting at the Park Cafe in Calder Holmes Park, Hebden Bridge we will take a quiet route to Mytholmroyd. Here we will join the B6138, Cragg Road to begin the Ascent.
The Ascent affords us a steady gradient and is 5 miles (8 kilometres) in total. However the idea is to develop skills and stamina in tackling the hills of the beautiful Calder Valley and on these initial rides there is no expectation to reach the top. We will vary the route to suit the needs of the riders by, for example turning left after 4.3 miles and visiting Craggies for a coffee at the Cragg County Business Park, New Road. This may be an option in poor weather too.

When we get to the top we can return via Cragg Road or join A58,Halifax Road towards Littleborough where we can join the canal and return to Hebden Bridge.

You will need a bike and helmet. Clothes for variable weather and some cash for coffee.

5 miles of steady, uninterrupted climbing

Mostly tarmac with a short section of canal tow path

Local cafe

Helmet and warm clothes

We never leave anyone behind
