Starting point

HU16 5QG

Cottingham Market Green (adjacent to the Duke of Cumberland Pub)

A leisure ride leaving Cottingham via Park Lane, passing the power station before taking to what is basically a farm track to Long Lane, crossing the Hull Road to Thearne and the western side of the River Hull. The Wawne Ferry ceased operation in 1946 after around 800 years. Crossing back across the Hull Road we will be stopping at the Coletta & Tyson Garden Centre for a break and refreshments before returning to Cottingham. All bike types are welcome although off-road tyres are recommended. More of the history of Wawne Ferry can be found at: http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/domesday/dblock/GB-504000-435000/page/9
