If you’re fairly confident on your bike and ready to broaden your cycling horizons, our Steady rides are ideal. At a comfortable pace, and possibly with some modest hills along the way, rides take place on mainly quiet roads with plenty of sights along the way. Rides are between 6 and 20 miles long, at a moderate pace of between 7 and 10 miles an hour.
Join us on this predominantly traffic free ride and experience gliding along lake shore trails with the might of Coniston Old Man looking down on us. Starting at Coniston Sports & Social Centre we meander our way along Coniston Waters’s edge before joining up with the new Torver Trail, a converted railway line which takes us to the village of Torver. Here there will be time for a breather and, perhaps an ice cream before heading back on this stunning 7 mile route.
This special Sky Ride Local guided ride is part of the Friends of the Lake District Coniston Fell Care Day. Fell Care Days bring together the local community, schools and volunteers from many different walks of life to learn about the value and importance of the unique upland landscape through taking part in practical action to protect them.
