Cockermouth to the Kirkstile along Lorton Vale

Leaving Cockermouth via the Lorton Road and tuning at Strawberry How onto even quieter roads before heading south. Passing through Low Lorton, Hopebeck and some. Before calling inat the Kirkstyle Inn for festive refreshment. Then head back along the opposite side of the valley capturing some great views of Crummock water before passing through Thackthwaite, along the river for a spell before heading back into town. Helmets are essential, a spare inner tube useful, comfortable clothing – a waterproof if wet, some water & a snack are advisable. Money for a refreshment a good idea! Most of the route undulates along good tarmac roads but there is a section along an un-kept U road of about 300m (grass & patches of gravel) A winter leg stretcher before all the festive feasting! We will ride at the pace of the slowest rider so no one is left behind. The aim being to have an enjoyable social ride in the company of other women.
