Cockermouth to the Gin Palace & back

A leisurely ride starting out from Market Place, Cockermouth. Going up Castlegate and out of town along Isel Road. Continuing along quiet undulating back roads towards the Lakes Distillery (aka the Gin Palace). Where we can either pause for cake or continue on skirting Bassenthwaite Lake before returning along the valley via Embleton back into town & sample on of Cockermouth's many cake venues. This ride will be suitable for beginners or ladies returning to cycling. It is also a great ride for more experienced cyclists. The route being on good tarmac roads and suitable for all bike types. We will ride at the pace of the slowest rider so no one is left behind. The aim being to have a fun sociable ride in the company of others, build up confidence for those recently returned or new to cycling. Out to meet new folk in a non competitive, friendly & relaxed environment. It is essential to bring your own helmet, spare inner tube that will fit your bike (!) and suitable clothing for the days weather. A bottle of water & some snacks are also recommended as is bringing some money for refreshments.
