Meet at Mitchells Statue (The Auctioneer) outside Sainsbury, Cockermouth. On the corner of South Street and Station Street opposite VeeVa Cafe

Also known as the Whisky go-go Ride! This circular ride from Cockermouth follows country roads which are generally quiet at this time of year. The route is through wooded lanes with pleasing views into the fells as we travel towards Bassenthwaite Lake. The new Lakeland distillery is around the halfway point of the ride. The return is via the Isel Road, which is undulating but does not present any serious hills. We will meet up at Mitchells Statue outside Sainsbury in Cockermouth. (This is right on the corner of Station Street and South Street, near to the cash machine) for a quick bike check before heading out via Lorton Road and turning down Strawberry How. The total length of the ride is a little less than 13 miles. The start and finish point is conveniently opposite Veeva Cafe in Cockermouth so an after ride coffee and cake is on the cards! This ride is suitable for all abilities; the route is all on tarmac roads and will be suitable for all bike types. We always ride at the pace of the slowest rider so no one is left behind. The aim of the ride is to have a fun sociable ride in the company of other women, build up confidence in our riding in a supportive group environment, as well ask questions about bikes and riding, and make links with others. All welcome and we will not leave anyone behind. Please remember to wear clothes that are comfortable and warm to cycle in, particularly be aware that hands and feet can quickly get cold when cycling so good gloves and warm footwear are a good idea. It is also advisable to bring a waterproof jacket, a spare inner tube for your bike and a bottle of water. Please be aware that it is my personal choice to ask that all riders wear a correctly fitted cycle helmet on this ride. Don't forget to bring some money if you wish to visit the cafe after the ride. They do delicious cakes!
