Clevedon to Portishead Loop

Hi my name is Nicki, I’m one of the local Breeze Champions based in the Clevedon. This will be a 17 mile ride and is suitable for the intermediate rider who is confident riding on the road. The ride is best suited to a hybrid or a road bike as we will be riding at a pace over 11mph with some drawn out hills! We will meet on the promenade Clevedon Sea Front opposite No.5 The Beach, Café (where we will return to after the ride for those that would like to!) Free parking is available on the sea front or the side roads, alternatively there is a pay & display car park at the entrance to The Hawthorns Retirement Home BS21 7EH. Public Toilets are available close by. Please allow extra time to get parked and get to the location. Please ensure you; • Dress for the weather! • Bring pump/spare inner tube • Bring water • Wear a helmet (advisable though not compulsory) • Check your bike is in good working order We head out of Clevedon along Elton road to Six Ways, along Hill road and Wellington terrace, continuing along Castle Road, which is a bit of a drawn out climb! The route to Portishead is along the coast road from Walton in Gordano, with another uphill section, rewarded with spectacular views across the channel to Wales. We then drop down into Portishead, where the rest of the route is relatively flat out towards Portbury and then onto quiet country lanes back into Clevedon. We finish back at No.5 The Beach for a well-earned Tea & Cake stop. We ride at the pace of the slowest rider so no one is left behind.
