Starting point

London
SW11 2NU

This is a train supported ride to Trinity Buoy Wharf in Docklands. The Wharf is home to a number of art projects and installations, a piece of music that will play for 1000 years without repetition, possibly London’s smallest museum and a variety of other curiosities. https://www.trinitybuoywharf.com/

The 09.23 train from Harrow & Wealdstone reaches Clapham Junction at 09.59. It is also possible to travel using the Overground from the Harrow area but this involves a change at Willesden Junction. The ride ends at Aldgate station on the Metropolitan Line. There are no lifts at Aldgate, but, if you need help with your bike, there will be others to lend a hand.

The route starts on quiet roads before taking us through Battersea Park and past the Power Station. We then travel through Nine Elms and cross Vauxhall Bridge. We make use of cycle lanes to round Parliament Square and travel along the Embankment to Tower Bridge. After heading to Wapping, we have a traffic-free stretch past Tobacco Dock and Shadwell Basin. Next, it’s on to Limehouse, Poplar and Leamouth before reaching the Wharf.

After time to look around and refuel at the Orchard Cafe, it’s a shorter ride to Aldgate via Langdon Park, the Limehouse Cut and Cable Street on Cycleway 13.

Note that most of the distance is completed before the coffee stop. We'll also stop for photos at various landmarks. You may wish to bring a snack to tide you over.

There are no planned works on the Southern, Lioness, Mildmay or Metropolitan services participants may use for this ride. Please check the situation nearer the date.

The time for the ride is a best estimate by the Ride Leader. Sometimes this can be affected by factors such as the weather, mechanical issues, the queue at the cafe, etc. We have a policy of leaving no rider behind so, if anyone is struggling, we will adjust the speed and take rest stops if necessary.

18 miles in mostly low traffic to a curiosity-filled destination with a cafe.

Mostly quiet roads, cycle tracks, paths and towpath. Very little climbing

Trinity Buoy Wharf. We also pass a number of London Landmarks.

Bring a drink, snack, pump, spare innertube and tools to fix puncture.

We especially welcome newbies!
