About the route
Starting point
Canal Side near Bottom Lock. Nearest postal address is Wood's Street, Wigan (off Caroline Street). The postcode is WN3 4ET.
Following the Christmas ride to the top Lock, the afternoon starts from the same place at the Bottom Lock, Leeds Liverpool Canal near Trencherfield Mill. Nice flat ride going to Crooke Hall Inn and then returning to start position. Ride is approximately 5 miles on canal tow path with a small section in the middle of the ride that is not concrete but suitable for most bikes and very flat terrain.
As this is a Christmas themed ride tinsel, decorations and other novelty Christmas items are an integral part of your riding gear!
Bikes are not provided and you must ensure yours is in good working order, children are welcome to attend but must wear a helmet and be capable of cycling along the canal towpath for 5 miles.
