Let's Ride Through Winter is back for 2022 to help you get off to a flying start with a new cycling challenge, #LetsRideThroughWinter.
https://letsride.co.uk/lets-ride-through-winterStarting and ending at Chiswick House, this route follows the route of the Thames via Battersea Park to Westminster, then returning via Buckingham Palace and Hyde Park.
From Chiswick House we head east following the Thames to the pedestrianised/cycle only Hammersmith Bridge. Once south of the river we will cycle the Thames path from Putney to Battersea Park.
We will cycle to Westminster and cycle back via the Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace and Hyde Park. Finally, we will cycle through Notting Hill and North Kensington, through Wormwood Scrubs and then back toward Chiswick House to close the loop.
We can stop at Battersea Park or Hyde Park for coffee/bathroom breaks. A steady pace including stops means this ride should take around 3.5 hours.
The route is mostly flat with decent road surfaces throughout. The 22 mile distance should not pose issues for regular cyclists and is a highly achievable challenge for anyone reasonably fit but new to cycling. The Thames Path can become flooded so detours may be required if there has been recent heavy rain.
We will begin at the posted time with a short briefing and set off soon after. In fairness to all riders, I regret we may not be able to wait for late arrivals, so please give yourselves enough time to get to the start.

All participants are expected to bring:
• A bike in good working order with tyres pumped to the correct pressure.
• A cycle helmet is highly recommended but not compulsory for adults.
• Carry at least a spare inner tube, pump and tyre levers.
• Dress for the weather on the day.
• A drink and consider bringing food or a snack to insure you are correctly fuelled to ride.
• Money/bank card for emergencies or to purchase food and drink at stops.
• A cycle lock for use at stops.
• Lights if there is any chance of poor visibility.
• COVID-19 measures - Your own face coverings, hand sanitizer etc if required.
