Chesterfield Canal

A new ride along the Chesterfield Canal from Tapton Lock to the new Staveley Basin and back again, stopping for refreshments at the Hollingwood Hub. The route is mainly flat with the occasional incline around the locks. A slightly longer ride for ladies in the Chesterfield area. It’s perfect for those looking to build speed and stamina or get back into cycling after a break. I hope to build this up to a longer circular route over the summer. Wearing a helmet is advisable; if you don’t have one please do not to worry you can still take part.  If you enjoy the bike ride and would like to come again perhaps you could look to buy one then. We really welcome newcomers to our rides. It’s a good idea to bring water, a snack and some money.
