Waitrose car park, Oakmount Road, Chandlers Ford

This is a 15 miles return ride. We meet at Waitrose, Chandlers Ford and ride to Winchester Cathedral. This is a mixed off and on road ride with some challenging climbs uphill through Otterbourne and Compton. We join the Hockley Link viaduct to reach the Cathedral. I believe this route is quite challenging, however there are cycle path along the road, so we can easily use it instead. Depending on the turn up we may decide to slightly shorten the route if people find it too long or challenging. We will be riding at the slowest riders pace - nobody gets left behind. There are a few hazards on the way, such is the busy roundabout by Winchester, just before joining the viaduct. These areas will be well highlighted at the beginning of the ride and I would highly recommend we walk across rather than ride some of these areas. All in all this is a really scenic ride with some challenging climbs and a varied terrain. All types of bicycles are suitable, probably better not to have a mountain bike. I highly recommend you wear suitable clothing and bike helmets. There will be a tea/cold drinks break at the Otter or The Old Forge (in Otterbourne) so bring some money with you.
