Centurion Ride Practice Two

This is for the riders who are doing the Centurion Ride on September 10th & who have booked on AND donated.

If you're unsure about riding 100 miles on the 10th September then do the warm up rides & see how you get on.

You can now split the Centurion over the two warm up rides and do 100 miles over the two weekends before the main ride.

These are flat rides, so it's a question of time in the saddle, nutrition & hydration - oh & of course, cake!

This ride will do the Northern loop of the Centurion, through Preston, over to Blackpool and back via Lytham - there might even be time for fish & chips. It will give you a chance to get to know the route & help people who are on the ride for the first time on the 10th September.

We will stop at one of our favourite cafes en route - or even two!

We will do the lap of the Northern Loop at a gentle pace to get everyone in the mood - the Centurion build up starts here!

Please check your bike over the night before the ride, tyres inflated, all bolts tight, lubricated. Clothing, Helmet & lights checked & ready.

Please aim to be ready to ride 15 mins before the ride start time, getting away on time is good for everyone.

Ensure you have money, a phone, your navigation tools, food & drinks.
We will help people as much as we can, but ultimately you are responsible for yourself & your bike.

You will need to provide a minimum £10 donation to cover the expenses of the support drivers - every penny left over will go to the charity Embrace Child Victims of Crime.

We have started a Just Giving page as that will ensure the charity receives the money directly & also benefits from gift aid & you can be sure your money goes to the charity.

Minimum £ 10 - no donation, no ride.

Please donate as soon as you have booked on here!

This will be The FC's - The Friendly Cyclists third 100 mile ride. The first year we supported the North West Air Ambulance, last year Milly's Smiles and when we asked who we should support for 2017 Belinda suggested Embrace Child Victims of Crime. She said:
"On 17th September 2017 I'll be riding 100 miles with Craig and The FCs. This year we are raising money for Embrace Child Victims of Crime.
This charity provides practical and emotional support to children and young people; especially those that have been traumatised by their experiences. The vast majority of referrals to Embrace relate to child abuse.
Children have the right to be protected.
Please support this cause."
Well said Belinda.

I'm a British Cycling Ride Leader leading guided rides & I'm also a trained route planner - I enjoy my cycling & appreciate it even more when I have people to ride with.
