Starting point

London

This 31 mile route takes us to the Orleans House Gallery in Twickenham. https://www.orleanshousegallery.org/ It involves very little climbing. Although there are a couple of short stretches where we have to ride with heavier traffic, we mostly travel on quiet roads, cycle tracks, a canal towpath, the banks of the Thames and paths through parks. When we reach Richmond, we'll use Richmond Bridge to cross the Thames.

Orleans house dates from 1710 and is named after Louis-Phillipe, Duke of Orléans, who was later the last King of France. It has the stunning Octagon Room and houses a permanent collection as well as temporary exhibitions.

We will stop for refreshments in the Stables Cafe and take some time for those who want to view the exhibitions.

Check your bike before the ride, paying particular attention to the brakes and tyres. Use this guide: https://lcc.org.uk/advice/bike-safety-check/. Bring a spare innertube, a pump and tools to fix a puncture. Dress appropriately for the weather conditions. Bring a drink and snack (or money to purchase).

The time for the ride is a best estimate by the Ride Leader. Sometimes this can be affected by factors such as the weather, mechanical issues, the queue at the cafe, etc. We have a policy of leaving no rider behind so, if anyone is struggling, we will adjust the speed and take rest stops if necessary.
