Starting point

Starting out on sealed surfaces through estates and parkland the route then goes off road on to gravelly bridleway. Passing around the back of the prisons of Wymott and Garth on mixed surfaces the route emerges onto country roads, through the village of Croston, and then on to Croston and Mawdesley mosses crossed via farm tracks - be advised we may encounter some softer ground here. It is then a short ride to Cedar Farm via country lanes.

Following a stop at Cedar Farm, it is country lanes back to shared cycleway which takes the route through Heskin Hall, and then a short stretch of road to join more bridleway skirting fields and through woodland - surfaces can be soft here.

Bridleway gives way to a country road, and then on to the A49 for a short distance, before turning back onto country lanes and emerging near Buckshaw Village to complete the route.

Route rating

0 stars (0) Reviews

Cedar Farm and Heskin Hall is a circular route from Buckshaw Village covering mixed surfaces so is best suited to gravel, MTB, and hybrid bikes with chunkier tyres.

This mixed surface route will include shared cycleways, quiet estate roads, parkland, quiet back roads, bridleway, farm tracks, and a small section of relatively quiet main road. It's got it all!

The midpoint of the ride is a stop at Cedar Farm in Mawdesley. We will stop for snacks, drinks, and a browse in the little shops.

Helmets are mandatory for junior riders and we strongly encourage helmet use for all. Please bring spare inner tube(s) for all bikes you are bringing with you, ensure you have fluids for the ride, and wear a smile.

We welcome newcomers, families, young and old. No one is ever left behind and the speed of the group is dictated by the slowest rider.
