Starting from - Start:
Dalkeith High School / Community Campus (first left at the traffic lights heading East after Aldi's) and just at the start of the large car park area within the school grounds (near the Sustans sign). Postcode EH22 2PS.
Car parking (if you need to bring a car) is usually ok within the school grounds. Or nearby in local housing estate. As it's a week day the car park may be busy but you can also park at Sainsbury's and cycle along to the meeting point. There are toilets in the campus if needed (but please allow time for that so we can leave sharp at 10am). EH22 2PS

Route rating
(0) ReviewsA 17 mile moderate cycle in Midlothian starting at Dalkeith Campus High School and taking the shared path to Bonnyrigg to Cockpen Road, down to the roundabout and then picking the Upper Dalhousie Road to Carrington on quieter roads, through Thornton Farm to Rosewell and then back by the shared paths to the start.
We will be cycling on a mix of shared paths, quieter roads and a short section on a busy road. On the shared paths we will likely pass walkers, dogs and horses and maybe tiny humans on balance bikes, so please stay safe and keep other users safe.
We will have a quick stop for coffee on the way back at Stop, Sip and Go.
Please bring the following with you: Bike in good and safe working order and well maintained, a helmet, spare inner-tube / puncture repair kit, a bike lock if you have one, layers (including a waterproof incase of rain), card or cash payment if you want to buy anything at our café stop. We don't leave anyone behind but if you find yourself in a position of being unable to continue with the ride for any reason, for example in the event of a puncture / mechanical that cannot be fixed at the roadside, then you need a plan for getting back home. And of course you will need a water bottle or two, some snacks just incase we dont stop for coffee (for what ever reason) and loads of chat!
First-timers welcome!
