Carlisle Hethersgill Circular

You don’t have to be the next Bradley Wiggins, but you’ll need to know your way around a bike and be fairly fit to take part in our Challenging rides. If you’re comfortable riding with other people and fancy a fresh challenge, these rides are perfect for you. They start at around twenty miles long, and are paced at between 11 and 12 miles an hour. This scenic circular route from the Sheepmount in Carlisle City centre, quickly leaves the city and cycles into the remote villages and hamlets in North Cumbria on route to Hethersgill. The ride is a mainly flat ride with some steady climbs, where you will be rewarded with excellent views over the North Pennines, Northern Lakeland fells, Dumfrieshire and Kielder. The ride returns via Irthington Crosby on Eden and Rickerby Park. Please note: There are no refreshment or toilet facilities on route, please come prepared accordingly.
