This is a typical example of the 'In Extremis' signature rides - flowing routes, climbs, varied terrain and fast descents. A gentle but gradual climb from the Aldersley Leisure Village brings you quickly out of north Wolverhampton into the wide roads of South Staffordshire. The climb to the Chase is deceptive until the last two drags which will have the heart rate rising but then a long descent speeds you to the roll into Penkridge for a well deserved stop at one our favourite cafes. The next section lends itself to steady cadences and an opportunity to recover and build your average speeds. A final grind(or two?!) brings you to the slopes back down to the welcome stop at the Leisure Center where if you wish, you may decide to avail yourself of their facilities! Enjoy. Next, try our Butter Would Melt, if you want a challenge from this one. Please note there will be two groups completing this ride. \the A group will ride the whole circuit whilst a B group will ride a shorter route of 40 miles at an slower average pace.
Please choose your rides carefully. GPX file available on the Cannon Hill 'In Extremis' face book page.
NOTE: This is described by British Cycling and Sky as challenging. If you are not regularly commuting or have not been completing 30+mile rides recently, think about whether this ride is for you. Some riders have had to abandon this ide before the half way point
