We head out to Nerston Village, on to Kittochside Village, Thorntonhall, and then Waterfoot. From there we take what may be the busiest part of the route along Humble Road to Mearnskirk. There we cross the A726 dual carriageway and turn on to the quieter Mearns Road which we follow to the A77 Ayr Road. The A77 includes a dedicated cycle path which we continue along to its junction with Kingswell Road which we use to cut across (past the Fishery) to the Moor Road. There we head up to the Whitelee Windfarm Visitor Centre where we’ll stop at their café. Afterwards we drop down to Eaglesham and follow Holehouse Road, crossing the White Cart Water at the ford, and back to Thorntonhall. There we take an alternative route back to Cambuslang Park going through Carmunnock and Fernhill.
You can view the route on https://ridewithgps.com/routes/44791465.
Please be aware that this is a Challenging but Steady ride which aims to avoid fast roads. We aim for an average speed of 10mph on the move. This is not the route for you if you are looking for a fast road ride.

This is what I call a leisure ride. It will start from the main entrance to Cambuslang Park on Cairns Road. We head out to Waterfoot, on to Mearnskirk and take the Mearns Road to join the A77 Ayr Road cycle path. Crossing on to Kingswell Road we cut across (past the Fishery) to the Moor Road and head up to the Whitelee Windfarm Visitor Centre where we’ll stop at their café. We then drop down to Eaglesham, and head back through Thorntonhall and Carmunnock, returning to Cambuslang Park.

This route is predominantly on roads but most are generally quiet. The section on the A77 is a dedicated cycle path but watch for cyclists coming in the opposite direction.

We will stop at the café at Whitelee Windfarm Visitor Centre for coffee and cake. https://www.whiteleewindfarm.co.uk/visitor-centre If anyone sees something they'd like to stop and look at, we'll stop.

This is Scotland and as we all know, the weather can be ‘variable’. Please check the forecast before leaving and come prepared. If the weather looks to be really terrible, the ride is likely to be cancelled.

First-timers are welcome but be aware that this will be a challenging ride and probably unsuitable for those with little cycling experience.
