Starting point

Starting at Cambuslang Park, we head east and then south to pick up Hamilton Road into and through High Blantyre. We then join NCN 74 through to Hamilton and down to the Clyde past the Hamilton Mausoleum. At the river, we turn right and continue along NCN 74 to Chatelherault where we will stop at the cafe. We come back to the footbridge over the Clyde and cross into Strathclyde Country Park and follow shared paths back to NCN 74 where it runs beside the East Kilbride Expressway. We follow this back to High Blantyre and take a slightly different route back to Cambuslang Park.
Please be aware that this is a Steady ride which mainly uses shared paths. The average speed on the move will be about 10mph or the speed of the slowest. This is not the route for you if you are looking for a fast road ride.

I describe this route as a leisure ride. It tries to avoid roads and makes use of cycle paths as much as possible. It takes us out to Chatelherault Country Park, going past the Hamilton Mausoleum, and then back through Strathclyde Country Park.

Wherever possible, the route follows NCN 74 which follows both quiet roads and shared paths. The route is classified as paved for the full length. The start and the end of the return will be on roads which are generally fairly quiet.

The ride heads out to Chatelherault Country Park where we will stop at the café which has toilets. https://www.slleisureandculture.co.uk/info/114/chatelherault_country_park If anyone sees something they'd like to stop and look at, we'll stop.

This is Scotland and the weather will be what the weather will be. Please check the forecast before leaving and come prepared.

We never leave anyone behind
