Starting point

Lanarkshire

Starting at Cambuslang Park, we head for East Kilbryde and then follow the recognised cycle route towards Strathaven, skirting Auldhouse. 15 miles into the route we head for Chapelton which includes a short section (0.3 mile) on the A726 into the village. After the stop at the cafe, we follow mainly quiet roads, including the old railway track, to High Blantyre and take a slightly different route back to Cambuslang Park.
Please be aware that this is a Steady ride. The average speed on the move will be about 10mph or the speed of the slowest. This is not the route for you if you are looking for a fast road ride.

I describe this route as a leisure ride. It tries to avoid busy roads and make use of cycle paths as much as possible. We leave and finish at Cambuslang Park. The route takes us out to Chapelton, going through East Kilbryde (to keep the climbing to a minimum), and then back towards High Blantyre. You can view the route in detail at https://ridewithgps.com/routes/45875960

Wherever possible, the route follows either roads identified as a cycle route or on quiet roads. The route is classified as paved for 95% of its length. The unpaved section is an old railway track which is rideable with care on a road bike.

The ride heads out to Broadlees Golf in Chapelton where we will stop at the café which has toilets. It is very cyclist friendly. If anyone sees something they'd like to stop and look at, we'll stop.

This is Scotland and as we all know, the weather can be ‘variable’. Please check the forecast before leaving and come prepared. If the weather looks to be really terrible, the ride is likely to be cancelled.

We never leave anyone behind
