Caerwent to Chepstow garden centre

We head out of Caerwent and cycle to Caldicot using the lanes and the country park. Then we head out to Portskewett and Sudbrook to find the path out to the Black Rock picnic site. Then we ride up to the road back towards Caldicot before turning off and following the lanes to Crick. Here we find the lane that will take us almost all of the way to the garden centre. There is just a short section on the busier road to get there.
After a short break, we head back onto the same road and then turn off to begin the steady climb to Shirewnewton using the shallowest route. At the top, after a rest to catch our breath, we reap the rewards with a lovely downhill section. Then it's on to Llanvair Discoed and Five Lanes. We climb up Five Lanes to reach our last downhill as we come down Dewstow and return to the car park in Caerwent.

The route is on quiet lanes and roads. Suitable for all bikes

We will stop at Chepstow garden centre for a drink and a snack. We will also stop at Black Rock briefly for a photo.

Please wear a helmet and bring along some money and a lock for the rest stop. It is also a good idea to carry a spare tube just in case.
