Caerleon to Tredegar House

The ride heads out of Caerleon follow the traffic free riverside path to Newport. We then ride down to meet the path alongside the Eastern side of the river. We then stay traffic free as we cross over the river and head out along cycle route 4 to Tredegar House.
After a short break, we head north to go under the motorway and climb gently up Forge Road and then follow Viaduct Way to find the only real climb of the day - Tiny Rebel hill (aka Chartist Drive). At the top we cross and briefly climb up Ruskin Ave to meet the canal towpath. We then follow it back down past Fourteen Locks and into Newport where we rejoin the path we came into Newport on and retrace our steps back to Caerleon.

A loop around Newport to visit Tredegar House

The route is a mix of traffic free cycle paths, quiet roads and the canal towpath.

We will stop at Tredegar House cafe for refreshments.

Please wear a helmet and bring along some money and a lock for the cafe stop. It is also a good idea to carry a spare tube just in case.
