Pedalling Squares Cycle Cafe, The Old Brassworks, Quality Row Rd Swalwell Tyne and Wear NE16 3AQ

This is the out leg only - return will probably be via Stamfordham. It links 2 of the North Easts most iconic Cycling cafes Pedalling Squares and Capheaton Tea Rooms. It contains quite a long (but steady climb on the outward leg but you are rewarded with some of the nicest/quietest roads in Northumberland. The 40 mile ride will be led by a qualified Sky Ride Leader who is also First Aid qualified. The route is longish (40 miles, mainly roads) but it will be ridden at a steady pace so is suitable for any type of bike. It also contains a bit of climbing which will be on roads (so it's easier). This is your chance to sample some of the stunning Northumberland quiet country lanes and to visit one of the newest (PS) and one of the quirkiest (Capheaton) cycling cafes in the North East - so bring money for well deserved cake and coffee. The ride leader won't be responsible for your bike maintenance (but will help where possible) so bring along your basic toolkit and hopefully we won't have to use it. We have to start early as the cakes often sell out at Capheaton due to its popularity. This is not a race, it's a social ride and I recommend wearing of a helmet and ensure your bike is roadworthy. Come on, kickstart that New Year's resolution
