From Burnside, we go Cuningar Loop and join the NCN to Govan Bridge where we cross the Clyde. We follow the route to Braehead where we take paths and roads on the south side of the Clyde through to Erskine. After a stop at Caulders Garden Centre, we cross the bridge and head back along NCN 7/75 to Maryhill where we return to the Clyde along the Kelvin Walkway. From there it is back to Burnside through Rutherglen..
Please be aware that we aim for an average speed on the move of 10 – 11 mph. This is not the route for you if you are looking for a fast road ride.

I describe this as a leisure ride. It tries to avoid busy roads and make use of cycle paths as much as possible. We leave and finish at Hugh’s Restaurant, 270 Stonelaw Road in Burnside. The route takes us out along the Clyde Walkway to the Govan Bridge where we cross the Clyde, head for Braehead and then to Erskine. The return route is along the canal to Maryhill where we drop down to the Clyde on the Kelvin Walkway. You can view the route in detail at https://ridewithgps.com/routes/50164086

The route follows NCN cycle paths, shared paths, and quiet roads as much as possible.

We'll stop at Caulders Garden Centre for coffee and cake, or whatever your choice, before crossing the bridge. https://www.caulders.co.uk/restaurants/

This is Scotland and as we all know, the weather can be ‘variable’. Please check the forecast before leaving and come prepared. If the weather looks to be really terrible, the ride is likely to be cancelled. It is though looking very favourable.

First-timers welcome but please check the anticipated cycle speed.
