Starting point

Flintshire
CH7 3HE

Our ride starts from Hawkesbury Hall in Buckley and we head over to Hawarden through the village and towards Airbus. We take the road parallel to the Dee where we take the bridge to join the cycle path into Chester and around the racecourse over to Handbridge. From here we make our way through Eccleston and over to Rossett where we have our Café stop at Cwtch Ceramics at mile 19 for coffee, cake/ 2nd breakfast and a catch up.

After our break we make our way back to Buckley through some quieter roads.

There is some climbing back to Buckley, but it is nothing too strenuous and you can take your time, it's not a race.

The ride will be taken at a steady pace (12-13mph) and can be adapted to suit the group. I estimate this ride will be 2-4 hours depending on stops and pace.

By booking onto this ride you agree that: you will act responsibly and adhere to the rules of the road and countryside; you acknowledge that it is your responsibility to ensure that any manoeuvre that you make is carried out safely; you confirm that you are fit and healthy enough to participate in the ride; your cycle is in a safe, legal and roadworthy condition (We do basic bike checks before ride) you have read British Cyclings’s advice on riding in a group; you understand that British Cycling cannot be held responsible for any personal injury, accident, loss, damage or public liability during the ride.

On the day we suggest that you should bring: Helmet wet weather wear and warm clothing a spare inner tube, a pump and tyre levers some food and drink to keep you going money for emergencies (and possibly lunch) a mobile phone and that you should carry details of your address and an emergency telephone contact number, just in case. Please do not come if you have Covid or unwell.

This a lovely route takes you through the historical village of Hawarden and over to Chester with a nice ride along the Racecourse. We pass over the bridge to Handbridge and make our way back into Wales.

The ride is predominantly on main roads, with a small section on a cycle path. Care is to be taken when approaching roundabouts and traffic lights (there are a few as we leave Buckley). Care is also to be taken on the cycle path with walkers and other cyclists.

Our main stop will be at Cwtch Ceramics, which is at mile 19. However, there will be plenty of opportunities to stop to take on any water/snack or a rest.

Helmets are required as is appropriate clothing. Its handy to bring a lightweight waterproof jacket if the weather turns or it can be used as an extra layer or a windbreaker.

We never leave anyone behind
