Broompark Picnic Site

Sunday 16th November at 1pm Broompark to Auckland Castle 23 miles Join us for a railway path bonanza from Broompark Picnic Area (DH7 7RJ) along the Brandon Bishop Railway path to Auckland Castle where we’ll have refreshments in the Castle’s café - the Bishop’s former library. This opened earlier this year and will hopefully grow to be one of the region’s premier visitor attractions. Apart from when we arrive in Bishop Auckland, the ride is entirely on railway paths so will be traffic free and mainly flat. We will pass through Meadowfield, Brandon, Willington, Hunwick before riding over the restored Newton Cap Viaduct to Bishop Auckland. We’ll return via the same route. The railway path is mainly a good surface so will be suitable for all bikes apart from very skinny road tyres. This is a good ride if you want to start to build up your confidence mileage wise while also enjoying some of Durham’s lovely countryside. Children are welcome but please ensure that they’re competent to ride the distance safely and they wear a helmet (compulsory for under 16’s on Breeze rides). Please come suitably dressed for the weather and make sure you’ve got front and back lights. If you want any more information email us at [email protected]. We look forward to riding with you. Audrey and Jacki
