Nailsea and Backwell Station

This is a lovely ride heading through Nailsea and out to the west across flat countryside. We’ll then head south passing the local landmark ‘The Blue Flame’ and then on towards Backwell. There is a climb up to St. Andrew's Parish Church where we can stop and take in the stunning the views. What goes up must come down! We can enjoy the decent down the hill taking us back towards Bristol, turning off at Flax Bourton.  We'll join the Festival Way which is part of the National Cycle Network and cycle back towards Nailsea along country lanes and quiet roads. The ride is just over 12 miles and although there are a few climbs we’ll ride at the pace of the slowest rider and we can always get off and push. Please note there is a height barrier on the Nailsea & Backwell Station car park however there is an alternative car park at Backwell Lakes around 0.1 mile up the road on the left which has no barrier.  Charges may apply to both of these car parks. If you’re fairly confident on your bike and ready to broaden your cycling horizons, our Steady rides are ideal. At a comfortable pace, and possibly with some modest hills along the way, rides take place on mainly quiet roads with plenty of sights along the way. Rides are between 6 and 20 miles long, at a moderate pace of between 7 and 10 miles an hour.
