Perfect ride for celebrating Halloween a ‘Trick or Treat’ for all the family! Grab your broom sticks (bikes) and wizard cloaks and oin us for our Halloween themed ride along the Chocolate path. Starting from the M-shed located by the heart of Bristol’s waterside the route takes you along the harbour and train tracks to join the historic chocolate path! Locally known as the chocolate path because of the resemblance of the paving blocks to chocolate bars, the waterside walkway was built in 1906 when the Bristol Harbour Railway linked Ashton Bridge with Wapping Wharf. The New Cut was dug as part of the scheme to create the Floating Harbour in 1804-9. Myth has it you can see the ghosts of the French Napoleonic War prisoners who were employed to build it - cast a spell to set them free! Following the river we’ll look out for ghosts and ghouls before we cross over the old railway bridge to join the Festival Way – we’ll have to be quick or the railway monster will catch us and make us his slaves.  It’s a short climb up to the spooky Ashton Court Mansion where you can stop before heading back to Queens Square along our route in reverse. There are lots of Halloween activities taking place around Bristol. Why not make a day of it and join in! For more information please see Visit Bristol’s website www.visitbristol.co.uk/whats-on/halloween. Come with your best scary face, mask, outfit and a pocket full of trick or treats for the passers-by! Want to take part but don’t have a bike?  Live, work or study in Bristol or North Somerset?  You can now loan one from Better By Bike, click here for more information. We look forward to seeing you there!
